Toshiba 80 GB 1.8'' Embedded Hard Disk Drive (LIF) 1.8" IDE/ATA
Toshiba Storage Device Division introduces a new 1.8-inch Hard Disk Drive, the MK8025GAL. It is based on perpendicular magnetic recording and has a capacity of 80GB and a weight of only 45g. Through the use of a Low Insertion Force connector (LIF), it is 7 millimetres shorter than normal 1.8-inch drives. Due to the combination of light weight, high capacity and small form factor, it allows manufacturers the possibility to produce even smaller consumer electronics products like mp3 players, video players etc. The MK8025GAL packs 80GB on a single platter – the largest single platter capacity yet achieved in the 1.8-inch SFF sector. The drive has been designed to fulfil specific customer requirements for high performance HDDs in more compact mobile devices.
